Instead of 12 signs, some astrologers and astronomers are reporting we now have 13 signs along the zodiac belt. This means that the sun sign you’ve always had may no longer be your sun sign. The changes in the Earth’s alignment may have also changed the dates of many of the signs, as well as an additional sign, Ophiuchus (oh-fee-oo-kus).
The slow movement, a wobbling effect, of the Earth and the Sun causes the signs to gradually change and the Earth’s position to the Sun. Astrologers and astronomers both have been aware of this for ages. Western tropical zodiac is based on the seasons, which has not changed, and Eastern sidereal zodiac is based on constellations which has different signs, including a thirteenth.
The new dates:
Capricorn: 1/20 – 2/16
Aquarius: 2/16 – 3/11
Pisces: 3/11 – 4/18
Aries: 4/18 – 5/13
Taurus: 5/13 – 6/21
Gemini: 6/21 – 7/20
Cancer: 5/20 – 8/10
Leo: 8/10 – 9/16
Virgo: 9/16 – 10/30
Libra: 10/30 – 11/23
Scorpio: 11/23 – 11/29
Ophiuchus: 11/29 – 12/17
Sagittarius: 12/17 – 1/20
In the west, seasons aren’t changing, therefore, astrologers of the tropical zodiac remain true to the old system. The Sun has not changed its ecliptic path and has always traveled through a corner of Ophiuchus. For those who follow Sidereal astrology, the Eastern form of constellations, the signs may well have shifted, and without any surprise to them. They that follow Western Tropical astrology, the seasonal form, will have the same signs as always.
